The wait is over! We are finally starting the private beta for BerryWeather 1.5

We are no longer accepting new requests for joining the private beta. Remaining invites will be sent out later.

When installing this version over an existing version all your locations will be removed. You will have to re-add them.

Version 1.5.35 RC3 (Junue 24, 03:50 CET):
- More fixes for blank radar image when leaving BerryWeather and returning

Version 1.5.34 RC2 (Junue 24, 01:14 CET):
- Fixed blank radar image when leaving BerryWeather and returning
- Some text changes in About Screen
- This version will reset the 3-day trial. It will also reset your license so you will have to re-enter your activation code.

Version 1.5.32 RC1 (Junue 23, 04:00 CET):
- Added support for variables in custom radar url. The variables are $lon$, $lat$, $width$, $height$ and $frames$. These will be replaced with the location coordinates and the values from BerryWeather's radar map settings.
- Clearing some caches when BerryWeather is sent to background to preserve memory
- Renamed 'GPS Location' in menu to 'Current Location'
- Title bar will show 'Cell Location' or 'GPS Location' depending on locator
- Fixed positioning of radar maps (upper part was covered by title bar which made some counters of custom maps in that area unreadable)
- Changed menu item 'Zoom' to 'Zoom In' and 'Zoom Out'
- Adding/Removing locations made permanent right after changes to preserve even on immediate reboot
- Added new location option 'GPS (Cell fallback)'. This will try GPS first and use cell if GPS fails
- Added prelimenary CDMA cell location function. This is not yet backed by a CDMA cell location library on the server side. Users with working GPS/CDMA will contribute to this database though. (If you have been at one location and succesfully used GPS this location will be added to our database and detected using cell location in the future for all users)
- Removed some too aggressive drawing optimizations on BB Storm that would cause display errors

Version 1.5.28 (June 21, 22:00 CET):
- Added option to disable animations. Especially useful on slower devices.
- Added option to select whether to use cell or GPS location
- Renamed 'Widget 2' to 'Widget Dark'
- Added full width versions of widget themes
- Reworked auto-update managing. This should improve battery/memory usage and finally fix the uncaugt exception on auto-on
- Making home location setting persistent without having to exit BerryWeather
- Fixed repositioning of radar map when zoomed in and then leaving and returning
- Fixed some text overlapping icons
- Improved size of installation

Version 1.5.25 (June 21, 00:50 CET):
- Showing progress in KB while downloading radar maps
- Improved radar map download speed
- Radar maps cache is cleared 5 min after closing view to free memory
- Improved smoothnes of animations on Storm (should now feel as smooth as iPhone... ;) )
- Fixed autostarting on boot regardless of setting
- Fixed overlapping of sunrise/sunset times
- Fixes a NullPointerException when adding some locations
- Fixed/improved loading of custom animated GIFs (Accuweather/Weather Underground)
- Added keyboard shortcuts 'A' for advisory and 'D' for radar map
- Fixed radar map not following GPS location
- When selecting a background image the last open folder will be shown
- Possible fix of widget misalignment after returning from radar maps

Version 1.5.14 (June 19, 18:00 CET):
- Improved GPS support on CDMA devices
- Fixed 'Clear Custom Radar Map' menu item not working
- Fixed window title showing only '...' when location name is too wide
- Fixed support for animated gifs jumping around on the screen
- Fixed mis-spelled menu item 'Clear Custom Radar Map'
- Fixed radar being reloaded even after canceling 'Edit Custom Radar Map' screen

Version 1.5.11:
(Changes since official release 1.0.43)
- Added radar support for US locations
- Support for custom radar map (paste your own animated gif/png/jpeg url)
- Added cell/GPS location support (a special GPS location can be added, will use current GPS location on updates)
- Added new view 'Today w/ Sun and Moon' (rise and set times plus moon phase)
- Added new Widget 2 theme
- Added new homescreen title options ('BerryWeather' and None)
- Advisories will now only checked for supported locations (bandwidth saving)
- Changed layout of 'Compact Daily/Hourly' views
- Improved animation smoothness (especially on BB Storm)
- Improved scrolling on BB Storm
- Fixes background image changes not persistent after device reboot
- Fixes background image not being rotated in landscape mode on BB Storm
- Fixes unhandled exception on device startup
- Fixes "last updated" time not updating when BerryWeather is resumed from background
- BerryWeather will log information about update failures in the OS log. You can view the log by pressing ALT+LGLG on the homescreen

Known Issues:
(The issues will be resolved in the next builds)
- GPS location does not work on CDMA BlackBerry (Sprint/Verizon)

Downloaded and using - looks great, no issues yet. Still using the dark black simple theme but I do like the gray widget. Hoping for eventual integration with berry popup, but this is certainly a great update.

I also (just for fun) changed my radar to the one on weather.com - which I had to search through the source code to find the gif file. I think I like the animated radar included in 1.5 over the weather.com one, but I wanted to try it out anyway. The only issue I've found is the weather.com radar does not automatically resize to my Curve 8330 - I can (and have to) scroll around to see the sides of the radar.

Keep up the good work.

Steven

BerryPopup integration will be coming.
As this might involve testing of BerryPopup we decided to leave this for later.
